Speech and Language Therapy for your child

1

Step 1 : Assessment

  1. Drop us an email giving a brief example of your concerns.

  2. If we advise an assessment, you will be sent a questionnaire to complete and return. This helps us decide the type of assessment required for your child. You will also be sent an invoice, once this has been paid you can book in for an assessment appointment.

  3. A full assessment of your child's speech, language and communication skills will be completed in your home.

  4. The assessent findings will then be shared and recommendations will be given along with advice for next steps.

Step 2 : Intervention

The most common options after the initial assessment are:

  • A course of direct therapy delivered by a Speech and Language Therapist. The frequency of therapy sessions will be determined by the needs of the child/young person and parental preference.

  • A programme of targets devised and the intervention delivered by others, e.g. parents and school/nursery. Training may be required for this.

  • No further support required and your child can be discharged with advice.

Step 3: Review

A review of therapy intervention targets can then be completed to identify progress and whether further input is required. We can then jointly decide on the next steps together.

Options could be:

  • No further input is required therefore discharge.

  • Assessment of skills in 3-6 months' time.

  • Another course of therapy may be required.
